I'm reminded of prior wisdom from this First Lady, "When they go low, we go high." Trump and his entire administration only know how to go low. Not surprising he went low again. I mean, his supposed "staffer" went low again insulting this couple. 🙄 Only three more years ladies and gentlemen. Three more years of Trump. 😒
Generally speaking I liked Mrs Obama's politics more than her husband's. I usually do regarding our presidents. Current president & first lady excluded. Could the current First Lady be any more useless?
This is a beautiful shared photo. We should all be so lucky to earn a lasting marriage like theirs. 30+ years and going strong. Anyone insulting their love and marriage is just jealous.
Sadly, I know how it is to be emotionally broken. I been there for over half my life. What a waste. The only plus side to a downward spiral are the stories and wisdom gained from such a perilous journey when you eventually land at rock bottom. The awarded clarity to see horrible people for what they are is a blessing and a curse. You can lead their sheep to water but you cannot make them drink no matter how thirsty.
The movie industry remade Wurthering Heights (sigh) again. It's a gothic English novel written by Emily Brontë in the mid 1800's about young love, poisonous wounds, mature betrayal, and mature revenge, back when literature still penned emotions that ran deep, rich, hard and true for all eternity. That said, the new film, like it or not has Margot Robbie in it but I love her. I've loved her since Mary Queen of Scots. Are the two main character actors too old in this new adaptation, yes, but let's give it a chance before we dismiss it all together. Here's the trailer.
This film is getting really bad reviews. I have not seen it yet but apparently the film maker went so far off script he turned it into a softcore porn.
Question: Whats the difference between art and pornography.

It takes writers to make readers. It takes readers to make writers. As much as I love films the film industry has no writers obviously or they wouldn't be remaking the same film over and over and over.
As a Gen X elder I beleved romance was only good for books not real life. Raised Stoic, feelings were for artists and poets, useless in every day life. Perhaps thats why I became an artist once upon a time desparately searching for something. Raised Christian, kindness and generosity are for those who have less than you. So what did that leave us? This is the struggle older adults must now face. If kindness and feelings were for everyone else, what do we have? When you're young you can afford to be hardened, you can afford to be selfish, you can afford to not want for anything. Be warned, it will all catch up with you in your 40's, should you still live, when you're not young and adorable anymore.
Wurthering Heights is a gothic novel like The Count of Monte Cristo, which has also been remade over and over and over, but now with this modern sexual spin can it still be called Wurthering Heights? The remake of Road House should have definitely been called NOT Road House.
Its strange to me how so many of us want more, seek more feeling and emotion but continue to do everything in the world to sabotage ourselves from getting it. Is modern technology to blame? Who knows. The world needs more writers and readers. I recently clapped back at a photographer who was being dismissive towards digital photography. Being a film photographer doesn't make you any better, sir, if when I look at your photo I still feel nothing different than five minutes ago. Photography, once upon a time wasn't even considered art. Still isn't among the bougie snobs.

Day 9 on the mend from the flu last week. It turned into a basic cold now. Still fighting phlegm but not as much. Still coughing, wheezing and sneezing.
Big Bear Lake had its first winter snowstorm. So beautiful. Aside from the mountain spins, Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead are California absolute must sees. If you love nature, bird watching, camping, hiking, everything to do with the outdoors, Big Bear is the place.

I don't know about you but I'll be watching this egg intently. We may not get another winter season with these eagles. They may move due to reported pending construction. More wildlife ripped apart. Irony. These people construct in places to be closer to nature meanwhile tearing apart the very nature to construct. They never get it. They never will.
It's been raining in Vegas all night. I love rain especially at night. It somehow makes everything you're doing have meaning except doom scrolling of course which is what I'm doing. I started off searching short stylish hairdos and somehow ended up on my IG page doom scrolling reels. The kids have a "new" hairstyle they're calling "the wolf cut". If you're Gen X you know this haircut as the Coverdale, or the Bon Jovi shag. Never no mind it was also a style by Blondie before either fellas.
2026 I still love this hairstyle.
My generation gets all grumpy when the kids take something they hear and see and make it theirs like it's never been done before, much like how we all ignore "stupid is as stupid does" as being first penned in Dicken's David Copperfield, "handsome is as handsome does" describing Copperfield's cruel but handsome stepfather. Whatever. It belongs to Forrest Gump now until the kids declare it theirs for their own thing. At my age I couldn't care less. I know the argument, "What if it was your work?" Trust me, my last blog ran over ten years and I've seen my writing all over elsewhere. If you're going to post online someone will 💯 "borrow" it. What's that saying about imitation and flattery? Nah. If someone I deem relevant gets their underwear in a knot over something I wrote, and it has happened trust me, that's when I know YOU KNOW what I'm saying has more relevant fact than fiction and that secret bond is more flattering to me than someone "borrowing" my scribblings. I don't write shock. My Midwest upbringing won't allow it. Besides, shock is the most temporary writing "style" on the planet. Why be temporary. To thyself be true. See what I did there. 😏
DAY 10 of this annoying post flu-cold-congestion-thing. I'm coughing, sneezing, battling phlegm like:
And because I'm still so heavily congested I sound sick even though this is the last thing I'm dealing with post flu. No fever or anything like that. Every time I take an antihistamine it knocks me out for the day leaving me groggy the next day. Its funny to me how the 80's and 90's were the most drug fueled functional years of my life but at 57 an antihistamine puts me down for 30 hours.
Are we back to thinking the Apollo 11 moon landing in '69 never happened? Oh goodie. I love a conspiracy. No really, I do. I have questions regarding this moon landing like why was the planted flag waving? What wind? Its the moon. There's no wind on the moon. And why do the footprints on the moon not match the space shoes? WHY. 😏 THIS and both Kennedy assassinations along with Marilyn Monroe are two conspiracies I can talk about until the day I die. Don't even get me started on 9/11.
AND ANOTHER THING
We all know that's Ghislaine Maxwell in Canada, eh. We all saw that Quebec clip right? That's totally her. No way is she still in jail. She wasn't "moved" to a different jail she was released and sent to Canada. Convince me otherwise.
Recently some folks got all upset over alter boys jumping in the Tiktok ring using social media to connect with America's youth. Which tells me these whiners never went to church with their parents ever or they would have seen/heard some things waaay worse than these alter boys goofing around doing social media trends. All the adults back in the day got absolutely wasted after church on Bloody Mary's and 7and7's. Wasted! Things got said that will haunt us kids FOREVER. Raised in an almost entirely German community I heard more bloody anti Hitler/anti Russian jokes that I dreaded every time someone said "knock-knock", and while Hitler, bad, yes, we all agree, Christian kids back in the day could have used more harmless Tiktok trends than knock-knock jokes that ended with something you would have heard in a SAW movie. Times were different then. There was no political correctness and everyone drank including the clergy. Its funny to me how people now think everything is a sin except for actual Biblical sins. Christian kids doing the Tiktok pony trend is NOTHING you bunch of Nancies. Our upbringing made Purge films. Your upbringing made mukbangs. See the difference.
Being a Christian doesn't mean you lose your sense of humor or personal struggles. I still struggle with God-swearing. My dad used to lose a hair every time I said it. Additionally I miss smoking cigarettes and I would LOVE a martini but that's my struggle. I don't judge other people if that's their thing. I don't judge. I may criticize other more serious matters but I don't judge. We know the difference between right and wrong. We know. Its those hypocrites who know the difference but choose to ignore righteousness for selfishness and sin against others that deserve our scorn.

Not all people are meant to be Christian. That's cool do your thing but in doing so admit you know the difference between right and wrong. Admit that much to yourself. I have a healthy tolerance for people who criticize Christianity. Still, it's just so interesting to me how I can embrace non-Christians in silence yet they cannot find it in themselves to return that embrace in equal silence. Atheists seem to enjoy announcing they're atheists and mansplaning how they are (somehow) superior. In the end, whatever my guy, you do you. Its entirely up to individuals if they rather be embraced or be right.

I'm feeling good enough this morning post-flu I might actually venture over to the strip. It's been a few years. I realize I might regret my decision the moment I get there but I think its still early enough in the season where throngs of tourists won't be the issue. It's those nonstop catwalks and escalators that can put me in a mood. Still, today marks my 5 year anniversary surviving a stroke which only about 60% of us are blessed to make. Might as well enjoy the Las Vegas weather before it turns 120⁰ out, yes. God bless us all.
