Good morning. ☕️☀️

Day 4 on the mend from the flu. I got a flu shot last September thankfully. I can 💯 imagine how bad this flu could have gotten. One winter in Santa Monica circa 1994'ish I got the flu so bad I was coughing up and blowing out the colors yellow and green from my nose for at least two weeks. My body hurt so bad I was crawling to the bathroom. The doctor gave me cough syrup heavily laced with painkiller I was in such bad shape. It was the flu mixed with bronchitis. Thankfully this isn't that but I imagine it easily could be.
Getting out of bed was painful the second and third days. I'm still sick on day four but on the mend. I'm just watching movies and knitting and keeping an eye on the eagles of course.
I knit all year and wash everything just before donating. The groups I donate to wash the knits also.
After losing their eggs to ravens seeing our beloved Jackie and Shadow together is a beautiful bond to witness. Jackie fluffing the nest once more is pure heart warming hope for all us eagle lovers there may still be eggs this winter.
Sadly, we must say goodbye to the wonderful lady who gave us the bird's eye view into the lives of Jackie & Shadow, Sandy Steers. Thank you Ms. Steers for giving us Jackie & Shadow. They really do mean a lot to us. 💐
I'm back in Las Vegas. I arrived, caught the flu, and have been on the mend since. I am no good at being sick. I have things to do! Before coming back to Las Vegas I stopped in Los Angeles for ten days. I stayed in Monterey Park. I had never been to Monterey Park before and not likely to go back any time soon ever again.
After spending some time in Monterey Park, CA., I'm reminded how not Asian I am in the eyes of fresh off the boat Asians. They're not shy showing their contempt for me. How dare I be an American Asian. Asians are among the immigrants who come to America and hate American Asians. These people have been a thorn in my side all my life. That's why the only Asians I get along with are other American Asians.
Monterey Park, CA., is a very fresh off the boat Asian community, not at all American Asian like me. If Monterey Park were an American Asian community I would be in absolute Heaven, but no, these Asians don't want to be American and they're not shy showing their contempt for America. California fresh off the boat Asians are always angry at American Asians. It makes me laugh like what are you even doing here then?
Trevor Noah said it best regarding China Town in Montreal, Canada, "It's China in your country!"
I get why Chinese people immigrate to America. Chinese government is more sketch than our own I imagine, though not by much. Still, why come here and not even try getting along with Americans? That never made sense to me. If you love the Chinese way of doing things so much that you can't be bothered to learn anything but your Chinese upbringing then go back to China. I'm not saying that to be mean. There's expectations, boys and girls. First, speak English. Second, be nice to Americans if you serve the American public. Common sense.
I just never understood people who immigrate to America and then not even try getting along with Americans. What was the point moving here? Like Noah joked, "It's the slowest Chinese takeover ever one restaurant at a time." FYI I don't trust ANY Asian food in Monterey Park. Hard pass.
You know where Asians are the most American, the Midwest and Nevada. Why you ask? Because the cowboys in the Nevada desert, and the farmers on the Midwest prairie, can dig all the holes they want and bury people in the dessert or in the prairie and no one will find your bodies EVER. It takes Dateline 35 years to find a corpse in someone's garage FFS. They'll NEVER find your body in the Nevada dessert. If Los Angeles county had the same threat you better believe every Asian in Monterey Park would speak English better than the English.
I ordered groceries from Vons: apples, bananas, oranges, granola bars, Pringles, ranch tuna packs, and super soft tortillas. And watched how long it took Pingping to put the order together. Not being racist, her name on the Ubereats app was listed as Pingping. 20 minutes later she got my order together. It was all there as ordered. One day I'll learn to trust the process, maybe. I always pre-tip at least 25% of my order but that doesn't mean anything if they can't read or write English. Still, drivers are working hard and I am unfortunately not somewhere I trust to leave even with a Ring cam on in my room.
Right outside my bedroom door is the kitchen and dining area. The homeowner where I currently am, not thinking I was home, complained I lock my suitcase. She said she didn't understand why I lock it. seriously, chick? I lock my stuff because of people like you who want to go through my stuff and complain that it's locked. You're not entitled to go through my stuff. It's also trespassing.
I leave Monterey Park day tomorrow. Not soon enough. This is (in part) why I don't protest for anyone because in reality there's always a 50/50 shot those immigrants in question don't even like Americans which is why they come here to make money off us - and as long as America let illegals come here, welp, what can you do. Take advantage of us, I guess.
Monterey Park, California. ICE could get their 3K quota in one sweeping afternoon without breaking a sweat. And you think that would be enough incentive for the these Asian illegal immigrants to treat Americans better, no? After all, you never know who's rolling through your town. They could look like me and still call ICE on you especially if you're a giant creep towards me for no reason. Don't get me wrong, some ICE agents have Asian girlfriends with expectations on how you treat them (bow a lot), but you Asian fellas don't stand a dang chance.
I said it before, I'll say it again...
Hot take: If the ICE agents who reportedly shot Pretti weren't agents but just some dudes in a Trader Joe's parking lot, and Pretti came up and kicked out their tail lights, Pretti probably would have gotten shot anyway, ICE agents or not. I don't condone violence but sometimes I completely understand it. The moral of the story is, actions have consequences.
The fact this is news and not an automatic given. 🙄 I don't have a problem with illegal immigrants going through the process becoming Americans alongside giving them equal opportunity for housing, work, health insurance, and an education. So long as they're going through the system becoming American citizens, cool. HOWEVER until they actually become American citizens let's hold off on giving them the bank. Common sense, eh. Democrats spend money like it's just a bottomless tap and then wonder why we owe God or the Decepticons or whoever 38 trillion dollars.
This adds to reason why I'm an Independent voter. I'm constantly treated as a "white person" among minority groups because I'm an American first, minority second. On the flipside, I'm treated as an invading Asian among the whites even though I'm American, that's it, just American, Minnesota reared. As a whole, I'm a person minding her own business not giving a single F about you in particular. That is, until you randomly decide to give me grief for no reason, welp, then you'll see what an absolute A-hole I can be. Actions have consequences.
Independent voters and Lutherans are people who have not given up faith, we're just tired of your 🫵🏼 B.S. We know the difference between right and wrong, something both the left and the right are epically failing at right now. Blindly following either party is pure sheep-logic at this point and Trump has three more years in office.
Pam Bondi is going to jail. If she doesn't then someone epically F'd up.
